Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Courses
Introduction to EMT Course:
Begins to build a foundation of initial patient assessment, emergency care, and scene safety. Designed to incorporate the 2009 National EMS Education Standards. These standards identify the depth and breadth of education necessary to bring entry‐level providers to a competency level recognized in the National EMS Scope of Practice Model, and meet the requirements of the Minnesota EMS Regulatory Board, the National Registry of EMTs, and is Minnesota POST Board approved.
Prospective Students:
Individuals interested in being certified as an EMT for careers in Emergency Medical Services. Enhances other careers such as industry/plant workers, law enforcement, fire fighters, and other health care careers.
Course Length: 45 hours
Tuition: $510.00 (Includes CPR certification and course handouts)
Textbook: $185.00 (Includes required textbook and course access code)

Course Format: Scheduled based on department requests.
Blended online format: Flexible scheduling with one-on-one student/instructor support paired with weekend skills sessions.
Face-to-face format: Classes scheduled including lectures, hands-on skills, textbook and workbook assignments.
EMT Completion:
EMT Completion consecutively follows the Introduction to Emergency Medical Technician for initial students.
Tuition: $825.00 (Includes tuition, course handouts course completion certificates and final certification skills exam)
Textbook: Textbook and course access continued from EMT Introduction
Final Readiness Exam fee and National Registry Exam is not included in the tuition.
EMT Bridge Course:
Designed for students to “bridge” into the EMT certification from EMR certification or others currently licensed in other health care fields predetermined by program coordinator. All prerequisites will be verified individually by the program coordinator.
Completion/Bridge:
Course are designed to incorporate the 2009 National EMS Education Standards. CPR certification is available. Bridging students may need to recertify if their current CPR card is not within one year of course completion or not Healthcare Provider level.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Refresher Course:
This EMT refresher follows the National Continued Competency Requirements (NCCR) 2016 course outline. Promoting the “life-long learning goal” of the National Registry of EMTs building onto the foundation of the initial EMT Education and outlined by the National Continued Competency Program. This refresher course also meets the requirements of the 2009 National EMS Educational Standards, the Minnesota EMS Regulatory Board, and is Minnesota POST Board approved.
Prospective Students:
Currently certified EMT Minnesota State or National Registry EMT.

Course Length:
20 hours NCCR 2016
Two hours Enhanced Skills Review
Tuition: $380 (Includes tuition, course handouts, course completion certificates and skills review)

National Registry renewal application fee is not included in the tuition.
Course Format: EMS Custom Education will format all refresher courses to best meet the needs of each department.

Emergency Medical Responder Initial Course:
Provides the first level of certification in emergency medical care for those who are apt to be the first persons responding to an emergency. While emergency care is not likely to be the EMR’s primary responsibility in the community, this individual can play an active role in the communities’ emergency medical services system. This course follows the National EMS and Department of Transportation Education Standards. This Initial EMR Course meets all the requirements of the American Heart Association’s BLS CPR for Healthcare Provider, the MN EMS Regulatory Board and is MN POST Board approved.

Individuals interested in being certified as an EMT for careers in Emergency Medical Services. Enhances other careers such as Industry/Plant workers, Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, and other healthcare careers.
Course Length: 48 hours

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Refresher Course:
